Colorful Cap'n America by Jim Steranko

I have no idea what these are, but I like

  1. One of the things that struck me when I bought the relevant volume of the Essential Cap is how much of Steranko's work is the color. It's still beautiful in black and white in those old comics, but it's incomplete in a way that suggests he planned for it the way more earthbound artists planned for inking.

  2. Right on, far-out, and blemish free, that's as cool as cool can be. Steranko is like a great chef of comic-book art--his pencils are georgeous, his inks even more so, and the colors are like the decorative drizzle over the main course. After your comment, I had to put up my cover to Cap'n America 110 again. Beat as it is, it has some of the most intense coloring ever
